Dr. Raphael Castro
A sports injury led me to chiropractic!
I grew up in Rockland County and attended Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey. I was an active athlete every season, participating in Football, Wrestling, and Lacrosse. During my sophomore year I suffered an injury to my hip and lower back. I went to an orthopedic surgeon who suggested surgery (two metal pins, a screw, and months of physical therapy) to correct the problem. My father took me to a Chiropractor on a friend's recommendation instead. Three weeks later I was able to return to my active life with no residual issues.
After my injury, I continued seeing my Chiropractor for routine maintenance adjustments. I felt better and better every time I went. Eventually, I just followed the doctor around, observing the true love he had for his discipline and his passion for helping his patients. After visiting many other medical doctors, physical therapists, and surgeons I noticed that no one had more personable and caring relationships with their patients than the chiropractors I visited. It was a pretty easy decision for me to go to Chiropractic school.
"It is a true pleasure to say that many of my patients turn into good friends of mine."
Dr. Castro attended Life University in Marietta, Georgia for both his Master's and his Doctorate degrees. He combined his Master's degree in Sports Injury Management and Rehabilitation with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in order to provide a comprehensive approach to his patients' health problems and injuries. This integrative approach of treating the body as a whole promotes the quickest and most lasting changes in his patients. Dr. Castro gives his patients the information and training (exercises and lifestyle changes) necessary to keep an injury from recurring and to promote the highest levels of performance.
On a personal note...
